Our team consists of Master’s and Bachelor’s students from different degree programmes. Although we all study at Witten/Herdecke University, we come from different regions and countries. Without the long-term support of the Oikos Association and the University of Witten/Herdecke, the Winter School would never have been possible in this format.

Oikos Witten/Herdecke

Oikos Witten/Herdecke is a registered non-profit association supported by students at the University of Witten/Herdecke. The association was founded in 2005 and has around 100 members, 30 of whom are actively involved in the topic of sustainability and around the University of Witten/Herdecke.

The aim of oikos Witten/Herdecke e.V. is to promote environmental protection by making students, as future decision-makers, aware of the issue of sustainability. The aim is to ensure that these future decision-makers integrate environmental aspects into their actions in their professional lives. In addition, however, a broader public should also be made aware of sustainability issues. The association organizes events and seminars and has an impact on teaching at the university. In addition, we create an umbrella and network of motivated students who are active in both theory and practice on sustainability issues.

Universität Witten/Herdecke

The University of Witten/Herdecke was founded as the first private university in Germany and has been providing important impetus for research and teaching in the German educational landscape for around three decades. Beyond imparting special knowledge and special skills, the UW/H has set itself the goal of imparting in particular the methods and strategies that are intended to enable students to deal with the complex and constantly changing world as generalists with specialization skills and as specialists with generalization skills To be able to cope appropriately and actively with the demands of the modern knowledge society throughout your life. The UW/H supplements this concept with comprehensive personality development.
